Mass of Christian Burial Wednesday, June 12 for Sister Diane Marie McGrew, O.S.F., President of OSF HealthCare
EAST PEORIA — A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10 a.m., Wednesday, June 12 here for Sister Diane Marie McGrew, O.S.F., president of OSF HealthCare.
Sister Diane Marie, 57, passed away peacefully at 3:33 a.m. Sunday, June 9 at the motherhouse in East Peoria following a five-year battle against ovarian and uterine cancers.
“A very cherished member of our Sister family, our hearts are aching today for our loss yet we know Sister Diane Marie is enjoying her eternal reward in Jesus’ arms today,” said Sister Judith Ann Duvall, OSF, major superior to the Sisters of the Third Order of St. Francis.
Sister Judith Ann added that Sister Diane Marie’s “dedication, leadership and unwavering commitment to OSF HealthCare have left an indelible mark on our organization.”
Sister Diane Marie was born in Peoria on June 24, 1966 to Robert and Marilyn McGrew.

She earned her Bachelor of Science in business at Western Illinois University, Macomb, and an Associate in Arts and Science from Illinois Central College, East Peoria.
Sister Diane Marie joined The Sisters of the Third Order of St. Francis in 1988. In 2006, she was appointed president of OSF HealthCare.
LEADERSHIP EMBRACED GIFT OF LIFE
Her leadership is credited with helping to guide the organization through numerous challenges and successes, while adhering to the OSF vision of embracing God’s great gift of life.
In pursuing a unified OSF HealthCare Ministry approach to improving the lives of those served, Sister Diane Marie kept the Sisters’ mission at the forefront of everything she did: to serve persons with the greatest care and love in a community that celebrates the gift of life.
Beyond her role as president, Sister Diane Marie’s service extended to various pivotal positions within the congregation and OSF HealthCare. She was elected to the governing board of the congregation and assumed the office of treasurer in 2000, demonstrating her financial stewardship and commitment to the congregation’s mission.

Additionally, her longstanding presence on the boards of OSF HealthCare, OSF HealthCare Foundation and OSF Saint Francis, Inc., exemplified her deep-rooted dedication to the advancement of this sacred ministry and its philanthropic efforts.
Sister Diane Marie’s leadership was marked by her compassion for others, unwavering faith and her tireless pursuit of excellence in health care.

She is survived by a sister, Janet McGrew, and brothers Tom and David McGrew.
Her visitation will begin at 5 p.m. on Tuesday, June 11, at the motherhouse, 1175 St. Francis Lane, East Peoria, followed by the rosary at 7 p.m.
Mass for Sister Diane Marie will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, June 12. Father Donald Roszkowski will officiate, with burial to follow in the Mater Dolorosa Cemetery at the motherhouse.
After the gravesite service the Sisters will be providing a hot meal for all who attend.
