Fr. Duane Jack Memorial Chapel Dedication Sunday in Moline
The former Believers Together Center Chapel at Christ the King Parish in Moline will be dedicated as the renamed Fr. Duane Jack Chapel in a ceremony on Sunday, Jan. 12 at 2 p.m.
Father Jack died on Friday, Dec. 29, 2023. He was 82.
“I am so grateful to God for this because it has given me an opportunity to meet countless people seeking a closer relationship with God . . . . I found that people are so hungry for what only God can supply.” – Father Duane Jack
As noted in his obituary in the Catholic Post Online on Dec. 31, 2023, when Father Jack became co-pastor of Sacred Heart Parish in Moline in 1976, he also became spiritual director of Northwest Area Cursillo, a position he held for 37 years.
DIRECTED 250 CURSILLO WEEKENDS
He would go on to direct and help form the presenting teams for upwards of 250 Cursillo weekends of spiritual renewal.
As well, he was described as the “driving force’ behind the construction of the Believers Together Center, which has provided a home for Northwest Area Cursillo and Teens Encounter Christ since 2002.
In an earlier Catholic Post article dated June 5, 2013, Father Jack described his experience with the Cursillo movement.
“I am so grateful to God for this because it has given me an opportunity to meet countless people seeking a closer relationship with God,” said Father Jack. “I have gotten to know these people as individuals, not just groups. I found that people are so hungry for what only God can supply, yet many have not known where or how to find God’s love.”
Light refreshments will follow the ceremony.
All are welcome.
