“Magic Mike’s Last Dance” (Warner Bros.)
By OSV News
Third helping of beefcake in the male stripper-themed series that began in 2012. This time out, the titular clothes peeler (Channing Tatum) pairs with a rich Londoner (Salma Hayek Pinault) who’s in the process of divorcing her possessive husband to craft a musical production the basic message of which is that women want to be just as promiscuous as men. The two also engage in a romance that becomes physical within hours of their first meeting.
Director Steven Soderbergh, who helmed the first installment in the franchise, focuses more on tripping the light fantastic than undressing. But the choreography features numerous simulated sex acts while the narrative implicitly glorifies commitment-free hook-ups.
A benign view of casual sex, an offscreen nonmarital encounter, partial nudity, a couple of instances each of profanity and milder swearing, pervasive rough and much crude language. The OSV News classification is O — morally offensive. The Motion Picture Association rating is R — restricted. Under 17 requires accompanying parent or adult guardian.
