Catholic Charismatic Conference will return to a two-day format July 27-28
The Catholic Charismatic Conference returns to a two-day format for “Jesus Christ, Light of the World,” which will be held Friday, July 27, and Saturday, July 28, at the Spalding Pastoral Center in Peoria.
Addressing the theme for the 32nd annual gathering will be Father Mark Goring, CC, director of the Catholic Charismatic Center in Houston, Texas, and Maria Vadia, founder of the “Jesus is Lord” Chapter of Magnificat in Miami, Florida, and of The Glory of God Foundation. Dan Duét, founder of Two-Twelve Ministries in San Antonio, Texas, will be back for his fourth year as music and worship leader.
The conference will start with a Mass celebrated by Bishop Daniel R. Jenky, CSC, on July 27. It will be held at St. Mary’s Cathedral in Peoria and begin at 6:30 p.m.
The conference welcome and speaker introductions follow at the Spalding Pastoral Center, 419 N.E. Madison Ave. There will also be social time and an opportunity to register or check in.
In addition to three talks by the speakers, the schedule for July 28 includes adoration of the Blessed Sacrament and the Chaplet of Divine Mercy, and a healing service, and the sacrament of reconciliation will be available. Father Goring will celebrate the closing Mass at 7 p.m.
FROM NORTH, SOUTH
Father Goring grew up in Canada and is a member of the Companions of the Cross, which is a charismatic community based in Ottawa, Ontario. Ordained in 2002, his experience includes parish ministry in Ottawa and campus ministry in Toronto, and he has served as director of admissions for his community.
He currently is part of the council for the National Service Committee of the Catholic Charismatic Renewal.
Born in Havana, Vadia was 10 years old when her family traveled to Miami to escape the communist regime in Cuba. She was baptized in the Holy Spirit in 1987 and consecrated her life to Jesus and preaching the Gospel.
She is active in the Catholic Charismatic Renewal of the Archdiocese of Miami. In addition to Magnificat, a ministry to Catholic women, she is connected with Glory House of Miami, a safe haven for victims of human trafficking.
Through The Glory of God Foundation, she sponsors the School of the Holy Spirit and Days of Glory conference with Father Tom di Lorenzo.
The cost for “Jesus Christ, Light of the World” is $55 for registrations postmarked by June 30, and $60 after that date. Full-time students may attend for $20. There is no charge for clergy, women religious, deacons and seminarians.
The meal plan for everyone is $25 and requires pre-registration by July 12.
