Bishop Daniel R. Jenky, CSC, has named Father Paul Carlson as pastor of the Catholic parishes in LaSalle, effective Dec. 14.
Father Carlson is familiar with the LaSalle faith communities, having served as parochial vicar of St. Hyacinth and St. Patrick parishes as well as Queen of the Holy Rosary Shrine from 2012 until this spring. Ordained in 2010 and a former chaplain at Peoria Notre Dame High School and parochial vicar of St. Jude Parish, Peoria, Father Carlson has been administrator of St. Mary Parish in Utica since June.
In LaSalle, he succeeds Father Antonio Dittmer, who is being reassigned after leading the LaSalle Catholic parishes for four years.
Bishop Jenky has named Father Michael Driscoll as pastor of St. Mary Parish in Utica. Father Driscoll will continue as chaplain of OSF Saint Elizabeth Medical Center in Ottawa, where he has served since 2012.
Ordained in 1992, Father Driscoll is the former pastor of parishes in Tiskilwa, Camp Grove, Wyoming and Toulon as well as St. Mary in Rock Island. He has been a hospital chaplain since 2003, including nine years at OSF Saint Francis Medical Center in Peoria.
The clergy appointments announced this week also include the granting of senior status to Msgr. Richard Pricco, longtime pastor of St. Paul Parish in Macomb — see story here — and the appointment of Father Adam Stimpson, chaplain of Peoria Notre Dame High School, as administrator in Macomb. Priests of the Peoria area will serve the needs of Peoria Notre Dame until a new chaplain is named.
