Our Lady of Fatima, Bishop Sheen focus of Oct. 22-23 mission at Washington parish
WASHINGTON — Marian consecration, Our Lady of Fatima, and the prophetic wisdom of Venerable Archbishop Fulton J. Sheen will be the focus of a parish retreat led by Dr. Peter Howard on Saturday, Oct. 22, and Sunday, Oct. 23, at St. Patrick Church, 705 E. Jefferson.
A nationally known speaker who recently relocated to the Peoria area, Howard is the author of “The Woman: The Mystery of Mary as Mediatrix in the Teaching of Fulton J. Sheen.” He and his wife Chantal are the co-founders of Heroic Families, which seeks to help families discover God’s unique purpose for them and “live it out with trust, courage and passion.”
He was one of the keynote speakers at the Diocesan Summer Institute in June.
On Saturday, retreatants are invited to Mass at 8 a.m. Registration begins at 8:30 a.m. The day includes three presentations on family Marian consecration and Our Lady of Fatima, as well as lunch, adoration, the sacrament of reconciliation and a consecration to Mary. It will conclude at 4:30 p.m.
There will be two presentations on Fulton Sheen on Sunday, starting at 2 p.m. A wine and cheese gathering will follow until 5:30 p.m.
While the retreat is free, Howard’s books will be available for sale and signing.
