‘Mercy’ is theme for mission Oct. 25-27 at Sacred Heart, Moline
MOLINE — “Mercy, the Heart of the Gospel” is the theme for a parish mission that will be preached by Father Britto M. Berchmans Oct. 25-27 at Sacred Heart Parish, 1608 13th St. His talks will be at 7 p.m.
The theme is “Love Scripts: How to Read God’s Handwriting” for the first night, “Back in the Arms of the Lord: Sin and Repentance” for the second, and “With Song in My Heart: Happiness and Fulfillment in Christian Life” for the final night. The sacrament of reconciliation will be available on Oct. 26, and a reception will follow the Oct. 27 session.
In addition to his three main talks, Father Berchmans will be preaching at the Masses on Sunday, and at the 8:30 a.m. Masses on Monday and Tuesday. He will also speak to the students at Seton Catholic School during the course of his stay and offer a special session for seniors, “Growing Older Graciously,” at 9:15 a.m. on Monday.
Born in India, Father Berchmans is now a priest of the Archdiocese of Chicago and pastor of St. Paul of the Cross Parish in Park Ridge. He speaks extensively to groups on spirituality, relationships, and personal growth, conducts retreats and parish missions, and hosts a monthly radio talk show, “Built on This Rock,” which focuses on Christ-centered marriages and relationships.
Father Berchmans has also produced a six-part series on CD, “Enrich Your Marriage.”
