Pope’s encyclical on creation is topic tonight at Moline parish

MOLINE — “Pope Francis and ‘Care for Our Common Home'” will be presented by Sister Sheila Kinsey, FCJM, on Wednesday, Sept. 2, in Culemans Memorial Hall at Sacred Heart Church, 1400 16th Ave. It will begin at 7 p.m.
She will discuss highlights of Pope Francis’ encyclical, “Laudato Si’,” and share insights on its potential impact globally and locally.
A native of Sacred Heart Parish, Sister Sheila is a member of the Franciscan Sisters, Daughters of the Sacred Hearts of Jesus and Mary, or Wheaton Franciscans. She has been living in Rome for several years, working with the Commission for Justice, Peace and Integrity of Creation and now serves as executive co-secretary of the JPIC secretariat.
In addition to a recent term as general councilor for her congregation, her ministry has included education, pastoral counseling, program development and advocacy.
