‘Family’ prayer group begins; members, intentions sought
HENRY — Catholics of the Diocese of Peoria are invited to join a prayer group for the intentions of strengthening family life, and also to submit prayer intentions for the new group.
Called “Missionaries of the Holy Family,” the prayer group will meet from 6:30 to 8 p.m. on the second and fourth Thursdays of the month starting June 27 at Nazareth House, the diocesan retreat center near Henry.
According to the Servants of the Pierced Hearts of Jesus and Mary, which staff Nazareth House and are coordinating the prayer group, the gatherings will be dedicated to “prayer, formation and mission to sustain, intercede and foster the life, health, strength, bonds of communion, healing and restoration in all families.”
The evenings will include 15 minutes of Eucharistic adoration and recitation of the rosary with the following intentions: 1) for the families of those participating in the prayer group and those entrusted to our prayers; 2) for the needs of all families and the protection of the vocation in the modern world, and 3) for all the needs in the Family of Jesus, the Church.
A brief reflection in the faith is planned each evening as well. The gatherings are scheduled through Aug. 22.
To send a prayer intention to the group, email prayergroup@nazarethretreathouse.org. For more information on joining the group, call Nazareth House at (309) 364-3084.
