Assignments: Msgr. Deptula named pastor of parishes in Champaign and Seymour
Msgr. Stanley Deptula, director of the Office of Divine Worship and diocesan vice chancellor since 2004 who also serves as rector of St. Mary’s Cathedral and pastor of Sacred Heart and St. Bernard parishes in Peoria, has been named pastor of St. Matthew Parish in Champaign and St. Boniface Parish, Seymour.
In a series of clergy appointment announced this month by Bishop Daniel R. Jenky, CSC, Msgr. Deptula — who is also executive director of the Archbishop Fulton J. Sheen Foundation — was named to succeed Father Robert Rayson at St. Matthew and St. Boniface parishes.
Father Rayson, who had served the two parishes since 2012 and is vicar forane of the Champaign Vicariate, will become pastor of St. Mary Parish, El Paso, and St. John Parish, Benson.
The appointment of Father Rayson to the El Paso and Benson faith communities means a lessening of duties for their former pastors.
Father Johnathan Steffen, who had guided St. Mary in El Paso for two years, will continue as pastor of St. Patrick Parish, Washington, and St. Monica Parish, East Peoria.
Father Eugene Radosevich, pastor of St. John in Benson also for two years, will continue as pastor of St. Luke Parish, Eureka; St. Joseph Parish, Roanoke; and as director of the Salve Regina Newman Center in Eureka.
Father Alex Millar has been named administrator of St. Mary Cathedral, Sacred Heart, and St. Bernard parishes in Peoria. He has served all three faith communities as parochial vicar since his ordination in 2015.
