Diocese to offer “Rachel’s Vineyard’ post-abortion healing retreat March 16-18.
A Rachel’s Vineyard Retreat for women and men struggling with the psychological or spiritual pain of abortion is being sponsored by the Diocese of Peoria March 16-18.
The retreat, to take place in Peoria, is open to people of all faiths.
Many women and men seek help after years in confusion and silence, according to Dr. Theresa Burke, founder of Rachel’s Vineyard.
“The Rachel’s Vineyard Retreat offers a chance to get away from all the daily pressures of work and family to focus on this painful time in your life through a supportive and non-judgmental process,” said Burke. Calling the retreat “therapy for the soul,” she said it combines psychological and spiritual healing through a process based on Scripture. During the retreat, there are opportunities for the sacraments of reconciliation and the Eucharist.
Cost is $140 for overnight lodging, meals, and retreat materials. Financial assistance is available. A Rachel’s Vineyard brochure may be downloaded at cdop.org, and further information is found at rachelsvineyard.org or hopeafterabortion.com.
