Letting the light of the Eucharist lead us into Lent

All are invited – women, men and families – to join together as a diocesan family on Feb. 1 at St. Mary’s Cathedral in Peoria to let the light of the Eucharist lead us into Lent.
To devote yourself to God and make yourself 100% available to carry out his will.” – Author Matthew Kelly defines consecration
The program begins at 9:30 a.m., and consists of Eucharistic adoration, confession, meditative music, and a Eucharistic procession followed by Mass.
For those interested in undertaking consecration as guided by the book, “33 Days to Eucharistic Glory,” the first reflection will be shared after Mass.
CONSECRATION DEMYSTIFIED
Whether one attends the day one event at St. Mary’s Cathedral, joins with a local group or reads the book on their own, each day of the consecration takes only about 15 minutes, as outlined by the book’s author, internationally-acclaimed Catholic communicator Matthew Kelly.
Kelly gives a high-level definition of consecration as, “To devote yourself to God and make yourself 100% available to carry out his will.”
Within this general disposition of heart and mind, the daily process of the ’33 Days’ consecration is described clearly and simply:
1/ Find a quiet place.
2/ Read the reflection.
3/ Ponder the one idea that struck you from reading for a few minutes.
4/ Pray the Spiritual Communion.
5/ Look for opportunities to adopt the virtue of the day amidst your daily activities.
6/ Have a great day!
The 33 days of the consecration extend neatly from Saturday, Feb. 1 to Ash Wednesday, March 5.
On behalf of the event sponsor, the Women Connect Ministry of the Peoria Diocesan Council of Catholic Women, president April Adams extends a welcome to all to take part.
“As Valentine’s Day approaches, let’s nurture our hearts and relationships. Embrace this sacred season of love and renewal!”
