Michelle Conger will take over as CEO of OSF HealthCare when the current CEO Bob Sehring retires in April, 2026.

Over the next 16 months, OSF Healthcare will transition leadership from the current CEO, Bob Sehring, to Michelle Conger, currently Chief Strategy Officer and CEO of OSF OnCall.

To aid in a smooth transition, Conger will assume the presidency of OSF HealthCare on Jan. 1, 2025, then succeed Sehring as CEO upon his retirement in April, 2026.

GRATITUDE FOR SEHRING, WELCOME FOR CONGER

Sister Agnes Joseph Williams, O.S.F., chairperson of OSF HealthCare Ministries, announced the transition on Tuesday, Dec. 11.

Bob Sehring, current CEO of OSF HealthCare, joined the ministry in 2002.

“It is with deep gratitude that we honor Bob’s extraordinary contributions to OSF HealthCare,” she said, adding that under Sehring’s leadership, OSF HealthCare has grown through mergers and acquisitions and now operates hospitals in 17 communities.

Sister Agnes Joseph recognized the impact Michelle Conger has already made and will continue make in “keeping OSF at the forefront of the changes in providing health care for our communities.”

Sehring joined OSF HealthCare in 2002 and became CEO in 2017. Conger started with OSF in 1993 and has been the chief strategy officer since 2010 and chief executive officer of OSF OnCall Digital Health since 2018.

Said Sehring, “The Sisters of the Third Order of St. Francis have long served as a touchstone for me, and all Mission Partners (employees), that ensures we strive to serve every person with the greatest care and love …. Looking to the future, I have the utmost confidence that Michelle will lead the Ministry with a focus on doing what is best for our patients.”

ANOTHER RECENT OSF TRANSITION

In October, OSF HealthCare announced another transition – the official establishment of OSF Healthcare Ministries as a Diocesan Public Juridic Person (Diocesan PJP), in partnership with the Catholic Diocese of Peoria.

This action reinforced OSF HealthCare’s identity as a faith-based organization, ensuring ongoing collaboration, governance stability, and alignment with Catholic values for future generations.
