Graduation Masses, ceremonies begin for 410 seniors at catholic schools in diocese
Graduation ceremonies are scheduled for the eight Catholic high schools and academies in the Diocese of Peoria from May 17 to 26, with diplomas being awarded to 410 seniors.
The High School of St. Thomas More, Champaign, will hold its Baccalaureate Mass on Friday, May 17, at 5 p.m. at St. John’s Newman Center. The commencement ceremony will be Saturday, May 18, at 10 a.m. in the school gymnasium. There are 44 graduates.
St. Bede Academy, Peru, will host a Baccalaureate Mass on Saturday, May 18, at 7 p.m. and graduation ceremony on Sunday, May 19, at 1 p.m. Both events for the 64 graduates will be held at The Abbey Church.
Central Catholic, Bloomington, will hold its graduation Mass and ceremony on Sunday, May 19, at 2 p.m. at Holy Trinity Church. There are 69 graduates.
In Danville, the 16 seniors of Schlarman Academy will be recognized during a graduation Mass and ceremony at St. Paul Church on Sunday, May 19, at 2 p.m. The commencement speaker is 2015 Schlarman graduate De’Ja Echols.
The 36 graduates of Marquette Academy, Ottawa, will participate in a Baccalaureate Mass on Sunday, May 19, at 5 p.m. at St. Patrick Church. The graduation ceremony will take place on Sunday, May 26, at 3 p.m. at Gould Stadium, weather permitting.
In Rock Island, Alleman High School’s 61 graduates will participate in a Baccalaureate Mass on Thursday, May 23, at 6 p.m. at Sacred Heart Church. The graduation ceremony will take place at Augustana College’s Centennial Hall on Sunday, May 26, at 1 p.m. The commencement speaker will be Class of 1978 alumnus Bishop Christopher Clancy, CSV, auxiliary bishop of the Belize City-Belmopan Diocese.
St. Philomena Church, Peoria, will host the graduation Mass and ceremony for the 14 seniors of Chesterton Academy of the Sacred Heart on Sunday, May 26, at 2 p.m.
The Peoria Civic Center will be the site of the Baccalaureate Mass and graduation ceremony for Peoria Notre Dame on Sunday, May 26, at 2 p.m. The largest graduating class of the Diocese has 106 graduates.
