Women of diocese invited to open 2024 with PDDCW ‘Magnify’ retreat Jan. 13
Women from throughout the Diocese of Peoria are invited to begin 2024 by taking part in a one-day retreat on Saturday, Jan. 13, at the Spalding Pastoral Center in Peoria.
“Magnify: Growing in Holiness” is the theme of the retreat, sponsored by the Peoria Diocesan Council of Catholic Women (PDCCW) and Women Connect. Doors open at 9:30 a.m. with opportunities for adoration of the Blessed Sacrament and confession as well as tours of the Fulton Sheen Museum.
The keynote speaker will be Kaylene Brown, author of the book “Magnify 90.” Her morning presentation begins at 10:30 a.m. on the theme “The Virtuous Mission of Women.” At 2:15 p.m., she will give a second talk on “Growing in Holiness.”
Following lunch, a speaker panel will lead discussion of the Five Foundations for the Diocese of Peoria established by Bishop Louis Tylka. The topics and their leaders include:
- Discipleship: Matt Faley, chief of mission for the Diocese of Peoria
- Evangelization: April Adams, PDCCW evangelization chair
- Eucharist: Father Daniel Dionesotes, parochial vicar, St. Philomena Parish, Peoria
- Vocations: Kaylene Brown, and
- Continuing Legacy of Fulton Sheen: Katie Bogner, catechist, blogger, and author.
The program closes at 3 p.m. with the Divine Mercy Chaplet followed by a book signing.
