Impacted by cancer? Bishop Tylka to offer ‘Spirit of Hope Mass’ Oct. 7 at cathedral

All persons from across the Diocese of Peoria whose lives are touched by cancer will hear a message of peace and be reassured of the love of Jesus at the “Spirit of Hope Mass for Cancer” on Saturday, Oct. 7, at St. Mary’s Cathedral in Peoria.

Bishop Louis Tylka will be principal celebrant of the 4 p.m. Mass, offered “for the relief from the burden of cancer.”

Prelude hymns begin at 3:30 p.m. and will feature renowned tenor and recording artist John McDermott, who will also provide music during the liturgy.

This is the third annual “Spirit of Hope Mass.” The event is planned by the Diocese of Peoria and OSF HealthCare. All are welcome, regardless of faith background.

CORRECTION: The “Cathedral Calendar” in the Sept. 17 print edition of The Catholic Post incorrectly listed the “Spirit of Hope Mass for Cancer” as taking place on a Sunday afternoon. The Saturday date above is correct.
