Raunchy comic road movie in which an Asian American lawyer (Ashley Park) embarks on a crucial business trip to China accompanied by her best friend since childhood (Sherry Cola), a quirky artist whose command of Mandarin qualifies her to serve as interpreter. The duo soon becomes a quartet with the addition of the solicitor’s college roommate (Stephanie Hsu), now a celebrated Chinese soap opera star, and the painter’s eccentric cousin (Sabrina Wu).

A consistently debased view of human sexuality and relentlessly vulgar dialogue swamp some insights into the complexities of ethnic identity and a briefly touching emotional interlude in veteran screenwriter Adele Lim’s directorial debut.

Skewed values, strong sexual content, including aberrant behavior and graphic nudity, a couple of profanities, several milder oaths, pervasive rough and crude language, obscene gestures. The OSV News classification is O — morally offensive. The Motion Picture Association rating is R — restricted. Under 17 requires accompanying parent or adult guardian.
