Fish dinners in full swing around diocese

BLOOMINGTON: The Knights of Columbus, Father John D. Ring Council 574, will hold a fish fry every Friday from Feb. 24 through April 7 (with the exception of St. Patrick’s Day, March 17), from 5:30 to 7 p.m. at 1706 R.T. Dunn Drive. Each meal includes dinner and dessert. The cost is $11 for adults, and $5 for a child’s plate with fish or grilled cheese.

CHAMPAIGN: St. Matthew Church is planning a fish fry on the Fridays of Lent, starting Feb. 24 and continuing March 3, 10, 17, and 24. The meals will be served from 5 to 7 p.m. in Feeney Hall in the St. Matthew Parish Center, 1303 Lincolnshire Drive. The cost is $9 for adults, $8 for teens, $7 for seniors, and $5 for children. Those 4 and younger eat for free. A to-go option is available.

CHENOA: St. Joseph Church, 225 W. Owsley St., will host a fish fry on Friday, March 31, from 5 to 7 p.m. in the parish hall. The menu includes fried and baked fish, baked potato, baked beans, coleslaw, drink and dessert. The cost is $10 for adults, and $5 for children ages 3 to 12. Children 2 and younger eat for free.

DOWNS: The Bishop Edward W. O’Rourke Knights of Columbus will have a fish fry on Fridays, March 3, 17 and 31, from 5 to 7:30 p.m. at St. Mary Church, 108 E. Washington St. The menu includes walleye, coleslaw, green beans, fries, homemade desserts, and drinks. There will be pizza and grilled cheese for the kids. The suggested donation is $10 for adults, $5 for children ages 6 to 12, and free for children 5 and younger. Meals may be carried out and curbside pickup is available from 4 to 5 p.m. A raffle will be held at the end of the evening.

EAST PEORIA: The Knights of Columbus will have a fish fry from 5:30 to 7 p.m. on Fridays, Feb. 24, and March 10, 24 and 31, at St. Monica’s Hall, 303 Campanile Drive. In addition to the fish (all you can eat), the meal includes a baked potato, lettuce salad and rolls. The cost is $10 for adults and $5 for children. Hot dog plates will be available for $5. Proceeds will be donated to the Msgr. E. L. Grzybowski Community Charities.

EUREKA: The St. Luke Men’s Club is having a fish fry on Friday, March 31, from 4 to 6 p.m. at the church, 904 E. Reagan Drive. The menu includes fried pollock (all you can eat), potato salad, green beans and hush puppies. Dine in or carry out. The cost is $14. Desserts will be available, courtesy of the Ladies Guild.

GRANVILLE: A fish fry is planned by the Granville Knights of Columbus for Friday, March 24, from 4:30 to 7 p.m. at the Sacred Heart Church Hall, 311 Hennepin St. The cost is $15 per plate. Drive-through only.

LINCOLN: The Lincoln Knights of Columbus are offering a fish fry every Friday in Lent from 5 to 7 p.m. in their hall, 217 Limit St. The cost is $12 for catfish and $10 for walleye. Meals include a baked potato or french fries, baked beans and coleslaw.

MORTON: The Morton Knights of Columbus, 616 W. David St., are planning a fish fry for Fridays, Feb. 24; March 3, 10, 17, 24 and 31; and April 7. NAUVOO: Catfish fillets and more are on the menu on Friday, March 10, at the Knights of Columbus Hall, 1275 Mullholland St. The meal start at 5 p.m. A free-will offering will be accepted. Fish dinners are also planned in the other Hancock County Catholic parishes for March 3 and 17 at Immaculate Conception, Carthage; March 24 at Sacred Heart in Warsaw; and March 31 at Sacred Heart in Dallas City.

OTTAWA: The Knights of Columbus, Starved Rock Council #634, will hold a fish fry every Friday of Lent through April 7, from 5 to 7 p.m., in their hall, 401 W. Main St. Meals are $12 per person and include Icelandic cod (fried or baked) with baked potato or french fries, coleslaw and bread. Dine in or carry out. A 50/50 raffle will be held each night at 7 p.m. You need not be present to win.

PEKIN: The Knights of Columbus of Pekin is having a fish fry on Friday, March 31, from 4 to 7 p.m., at the Eagles Lodge, 274 Derby St. The menu includes pollock, coleslaw and baked beans. The cost is $13 for adults and $6 for children. Desserts are available for a donation.

PEORIA: Holy Family Men’s Club will serve fish dinners from 4 to 7 p.m. on the Fridays of Lent in the cafeteria of Holy Family School, 2329 W. Reservoir Blvd. Dine in or carry out. For dinner prices or to place orders, visit holy-family-peoria.square.site.

PEORIA: The St. Bernard Men’s Club will have a fish fry on Fridays, Feb. 24, March 10 and 24, and April 7, at the former school gym, 512 E. Kansas. The meals — dine in or carry out — will be served from 5:30 to 7 p.m. The menu includes coleslaw, choice of potato, and bread with catfish or baked cod for $15 or with fried shrimp or cod for $10. A child’s meal of corn dogs, fried cod or shrimp are available for $5.

PEORIA: The Knights of Columbus, St. Clement Council, will have a fish fry every Friday in March, serving from 5 to 7 p.m. in the gym of St. Jude School, 10911 N. Knoxville. Adult meals are $15 and offer a choice of fried whole catfish, baked lemon cod or deep fried shrimp and baked potato, green beans and coleslaw. A fish po’boy sandwich with chips and coleslaw is $12. A child’s meal of fish sticks or cheese pizza with chips is $6. A family of two adults and two or more children, ages 12 and younger, eat for $40. PEORIA HEIGHTS: The St. Thomas the Apostle Men’s Club will host its annual fish fry (all you can eat) on Friday, March 24, from 5 to 7 p.m. in the school cafeteria. (Come to the parking lot behind the church at 904 E. Lake Ave.) The menu includes homemade french fries, coleslaw, salad bar and cookies. Dine in or drive through. The cost is $15 for adults. A child’s meal (ages 6 to 12) is $10 for fish and $5 for grilled cheese.

ROCK ISLAND: The Knights of Columbus, Allouez Council No. 658, are planning a fish fry for Friday, March 10, in Farrell Hall at St. Pius X Church, 2901 24th St. Meals will be served from 4 to 7:30 p.m. The menu includes baked or fried cod, cheese pizza, coleslaw, Tater Tots, mac and cheese, a roll, dessert and drink. The cost is $15 for adults, $5 for children ages 5-16 (no cost for children younger than 5), or $35 per family. Stations of the Cross will be prayed at 5:30 p.m. in church.

SILVIS: Our Lady of Guadalupe Men’s Club will have a fish fry every Friday during Lent from 4 to 7 p.m. in the parish hall, 800 17th St. The menu includes a choice of fried whole catfish, baked cod or fried shrimp, plus salad bar, macaroni and cheese, bean tostadas, green beans, baked potato and Texas toast. Dessert is also available and there will be grilled cheese sandwiches for children.
