Abide in Me high school youth retreat puts focus on the Eucharist Nov. 5-6
GERMANTOWN HILLS — High school students are invited to spend 26 hours with Jesus as part of the Abide in Me eucharistic retreat planned for Saturday, Nov. 5, and Sunday, Nov. 6. It will be hosted by St. Mary of Lourdes Church, 424 Lourdes Church Road, where Father Eric Bolek, organizer, is the administrator.
Mass, talks and prayer will take place in church, while meals and activities will be held in the parish hall and outdoors, weather permitting. Overnight accommodations will be in the parish hall, with boys and girls in separate quarters.
“The center of the retreat is that the Eucharist is the source and summit of our faith. We want to have them in front of the Eucharist as much as possible,” said Karley Bates, who is also a retreat organizer. She added that the Blessed Sacrament would be exposed in St. Mary Church throughout the weekend.
Bates said the Gospel story of the road to Emmaus provides the foundation for Abide in Me. Speakers will talk about what it means to encounter Christ and how you live your life after that encounter.
The cost to attend is $50 per person and students must register as part of a parish group. Individuals who would like to come are encouraged to contact the planning team for help in connecting to an existing group.
Registration is due by Oct. 25 and is available online. For more information, visit the website.
