PERU — Father Joseph Morris will return to central Illinois with “Mark’s Gospel LIVE” on Thursday, March 24, at St. Bede Abbey, 24 W. U.S. Highway 6. It will be presented at 10 a.m. (abbreviated) and 7 p.m. (the complete Gospel).

There is no set admission fee, but a free-will offering will be accepted.

“Mark’s Gospel LIVE” is not a reading or a talk, but a dynamic proclamation of an ancient story about God’s healing love. It grew out of a play Father Morris wrote for an ensemble and adapted for one person as he convalesced from surgeries on a broken leg.

The first performances of “Mark’s Gospel LIVE” took place in 2002. Since then it has been seen throughout the United States, the United Kingdom and Canada.

Father Morris earned a master’s of divinity from Catholic Theological Union in 1995 and was ordained to the priesthood for the Archdiocese of Atlanta in 1996. His ministry has included parish work and he was a chaplain for the Atlanta Falcons for a decade.

Currently he serves as the chaplain at the Kennesaw State University Catholic Center in Kennesaw, Georgia, and Berry College in Rome, Georgia.
