Bishop Tylka’s December prayer calendar for parishes and religious communities

Which parish will Bishop Tylka pray for in a special way on Christmas Day? Why, The Nativity of Our Lord in Spring Valley, of course! (The Catholic Post/Tom Dermody)

Throughout 2021, Coadjutor Bishop Louis Tylka has been praying for each parish in the Diocese of Peoria by name with the assistance of a calendar he developed with Sister Linda Burkitt of the Sisters of St. Francis of the Immaculate Conception (Heading Avenue Franciscans). He will continue to do so in the new year.

In addition to the parishes, the prayer calendar includes days special to the religious communities active in central Illinois.

Everyone is invited to join Bishop Tylka in praying for the following parishes and religious communities that are being remembered in December:

  • Dec. 4: Franciscan Apostolic Sisters, Peoria
  • Dec. 6: St. Malachy Parish, Rantoul
  • Dec. 7: St. Ambrose Parish, Milan
  • Dec. 8: Immaculate Conception Parish, Lacon
  • Dec. 9: Immaculate Conception Parish, Ohio
  • Dec. 11: St. Mary Parish, Champaign
  • Dec. 12: Our Lady of Guadalupe Parish, Silvis
  • Dec. 19: Immaculate Conception Parish, Carthage
  • Dec. 22: St. Mary Parish, Metamora
  • Dec. 23: St. John Parish, Viola
  • Dec. 24: St. Patrick Parish, Andalusia
  • Dec. 25: The Nativity of Our Lord Parish, Spring Valley
  • Dec. 27: St. John the Evangelist Parish, Galva, and St. John the Apostle, Woodhull
  • Dec. 28: St. John Parish, Benson
  • Dec. 29: Holy Family Parish, Lincoln
