“Vaccines 101: The Catholic Perspective” is the theme of a free online presentation to be offered at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 20.

Dr. Millea

The presenter will be Dr. Millea, co-founder and current president of the St. Thomas Aquinas Guild of the Quad Cities, a chartered guild of the Catholic Medical Association.

The webinar, which seeks to answer common questions about viruses and vaccines as well as address the Catholic Church’s ethical principles and guidance regarding vaccines, will be conducted via Zoom and is open to all interested persons. To obtain the Zoom link, email the Guild at stthomasaquinasqc@gmail.com.

Dr. Millea, an orthopedic surgeon and member of St. Paul the Apostle Parish in Davenport, Iowa, has served on the Vaccine Task Force of the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops during the pandemic. He is a member of the Catholic Medical Association’s National Board of Directors and serves on its health care policy, education, and regional director/state director committees.

He acknowledged the “profound changes” the COVID-19 pandemic has brought to our lives. And while there has been “a vast amount of information available” about the disease, its prevention, and treatment, there can remain more questions than answers, in particular regarding the vaccines.
