Knox County Right to Life sponsoring student essay contest in September

GALESBURG — Students will be asked to describe their world in 10 years as part of Knox County Right to Life’s sixth annual essay contest. Submissions will be accepted from Sept. 1 through Sept. 30.

The contest is open to students in grades six through 12 in Knox County. Essays may not exceed 500 words.

This year’s topic is “Describe your world in 10 years 1) if current pro-abortion laws are maintained and strengthened and 2) if strong pro-life legislation takes effect.”

Plaques will be given to the top three essayists along with $200 for first place, $100 for second place, and $50 for third place. The awards will be presented at the Festival of Life on Sunday, Oct. 18, and the winning essay will be read by the student who wrote it.

Essays may be mailed to R. Flesher, 683 N. Cherry St., #305, Galesburg, IL 61401, or sent by email to rflesher007@yahoo.com. Students and their families are asked to include their contact information so they can be notified about the results of the contest.

Knox County Right to Life is an organization of area residents committed to promoting respect for human life at all stages, from conception to natural death.
