‘Post’ releases 2019 All Souls Day memorial video featuring reader submitted photos
Thirty-seven reader submitted photos of recently deceased loved ones from throughout the Diocese of Peoria are featured in a memorial video produced by The Catholic Post to assist in the observance of the Commemoration of All the Faithful Departed (All Souls Day) on Nov. 2.
Providing musical background to this year’s video is the song “Dear God,” written and sung by Catholic Post columnist Paul Thomas Moore.
“We are deeply grateful to those who sent in photos of their loved ones for inclusion in our video,” said Tom Dermody, editor of The Catholic Post. “Throughout the production process we feel a closeness to those pictured as well as their families, and we lift them in prayer often.
“We are also grateful to Paul Moore for allowing us to use his beautiful song,” added Dermody. “It captures both the emotions of painful loss and the certain hope offered by our faith in Christ.”
The twin goals of the All Souls Day videos — which The Catholic Post has produced annually since 2013 — are to honor and remember those pictured and inspire prayer for all the faithful departed. The 2014 version of the video, for example, has received more than 11,000 YouTube views.
In addition to the posting on YouTube, the video will also be shared on Nov. 2 via The Catholic Post’s page on Facebook.
The video’s ending credits include the following quote from the 2008 Festival Letter of Peoria Bishop Daniel R. Jenky, CSC: “Both our hope in the resurrection and our love for one another should oblige us to pray constantly for all those who have died and gone before us.”
