‘Put Out Into the Deep’ is theme of Cursillo day of renewal set Aug. 24

Anyone who has experienced a Cursillo weekend is invited to take part in a day of renewal planned for Saturday, Aug. 24. Sponsored by Peoria Area Cursillo, it will be held at the Spalding Pastoral Center, 419 N.E. Madison Ave., in Peoria.

The theme for the day, which will be led by Dave Bartak, is “Put Out Into the Deep.” It will begin with registration at 8 a.m. and Mass at 8:30 a.m. and conclude at 3 p.m.

The cost of $15 includes a continental breakfast and lunch.

Cursillo is a Spanish word meaning “short course” and a Cursillo weekend is intended to be a “short course in Christianity.” The day of renewal is designed to help men and women refresh their Cursillo experience.

Deacon Kevin Zeeb of Blessed Sacrament Parish in Morton is one of four speakers who will share the stories of their own Cursillos and how their continuing journey has enabled them to spread the love of Christ.

The deadline for reservations for the day of renewal is Aug. 20. To reserve a place, call (309) 676-5587.
