Tom Brewer is walking from Danville to Peoria to help OSF Children’s Hospital
TREMONT — A year ago, Tom Brewer walked 128 miles from Rockford to Peoria to raise funds and awareness for OSF HealthCare Children’s Hospital of Illinois. On Saturday, April 27, the Tremont resident begins a second walk to Peoria, with this one starting in Danville.
Brewer’s nine-day, 132-mile trek starts at 8 a.m. that day at OSF HealthCare Sacred Heart Medical Center in Danville.
His anticipated schedule has him beginning in Ogden on April 28, OSF HealthCare Heart of Mary Medical Center in Urbana on April 29; Mansfield on April 30; Downs on May 1; OSF HealthCare St. Joseph Medical Center in Bloomington on May 2; Congerville on May 3; and Morton on May 4.
The walk ends on Sunday, May 5, with supporters joining Brewer for the last mile around the OSF Children’s Hospital of Illinois campus in Peoria at 2 p.m.
Last year’s walk raised $11,417 to help provide resources for pediatric research, emergency services, neonatal care and technology development. A goal of $15,000 has been set for the 2019 walk, which benefits The Heller Center for Kids with Cancer.
