Six more priests from Africa being welcomed to Diocese of Peoria, assigned
Bishop Daniel R. Jenky, CSC, has welcomed six priests from various locations in Africa to serve in the Diocese of Peoria.
The six, whose assignments appear below and who will be profiled in a future issue of The Catholic Post, join about a dozen priests from Africa already serving in parishes and medical centers within the diocese.
Msgr. James Kruse, diocesan vicar general, told The Catholic Post that priests from Africa “have brought many blessings to our diocese” and that it is chiefly through connections with those already here that the newly arriving priests became interested in serving in central Illinois. The fact that six are arriving within a short time frame is the “providential” result of immigration paperwork approval coming close together, he added.
Msgr. Kruse said the six have a wide spectrum of priestly experience and education. Following is the list of assignments:
Father Remigius Ntahondi to parochial vicar, Holy Cross Parish, Champaign. (This appointment was effective on Monday, Nov. 26, 2018.)
