‘Teaching Like Jesus’ workshop on Jan. 9 invites educators from around diocese
The diocesan Office of Priestly Vocations hopes to help teachers make the most of their relationships with students and bring them closer to Christ with “Teaching Like Jesus: Making Disciples in Our Schools” on Wednesday, Jan. 9. The workshop will be held from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Family Resources Center, 415 N.E. Monroe St., in Peoria.
The speaker will be Andre Lesperance of Greendale, Wisconsin. A senior ministry consultant at The Evangelical Catholic, his experience includes parish ministry and teaching theology at Marquette University High School in Milwaukee.
Teachers — especially Catholic school teachers — have a privileged opportunity to foster faith and virtue in the lives of their students, according to organizers. Among the areas that will be covered are how to help those who are ready to grow and leading effective small groups to prepare students for a lifetime of discipleship.
The workshop is free for Catholic school teachers. The cost is $25 for all others.
