Fr. Vincent Giacabazi, SJ, will guide Cursillo day of reflection on Aug. 25
“Just a Closer Walk with Thee” is the theme for a day of reflection planned by the Peoria Cursillo community for Saturday, Aug. 25, at the Spalding Pastoral Center in Peoria. It will be given by Jesuit Father Vincent Giacabazi, who was raised in Peoria and graduated from Peoria Notre Dame High School in 2000.
He is the son of Cursillistas Nora O’Neill and Bernard Giacabazi.
Ordained in 2015, Father Giacabazi has taught Spanish, Scripture and international studies. He currently serves as the chair of the Department of Theology at Rockhurst High School in Kansas City, Missouri.
He has also given retreats at the White House, a Jesuit retreat center in St. Louis.
Father Giacabazi will present three conferences during the day, which begins with registration at 8 a.m. and includes a Votive Mass in honor of the Blessed Virgin Mary at 8:30 a.m. His talks will lead up to “The Call of the King: Following, Walking Beside, and Being One With and Imitating Christ.”
The cost to attend the diocese-wide Cursillo event is $15, which covers the cost of the catered lunch. Reservations may be made by contacting the Peoria Cursillo office at (309) 676-5587 or cursillopeoria@gmail.com.
