Foundations of Faith Community Nursing focus of online course beginning Aug. 20

“Foundation of Faith Community Nursing” will be offered as an online course through OSF HealthCare Saint Francis Medical Center in Peoria on Mondays from Aug. 20 through Nov. 19. Each class will be presented live via Adobe Connect from 5:30 to 7 p.m. with recordings available for those who cannot attend.

Faith Community Nursing is the specialized practice of professional nursing that focuses on the care of the spirit, as well as the promotion of wholistic health. It also includes a focus on preventing or minimizing illness within the context of the faith community.

The course is designed for registered nurses who have a bachelor’s degree or higher in nursing, nursing experience, knowledge of the health care assets and resources of the community, and knowledge of the spiritual beliefs and practices of a faith community. Applicants must have a current state license.

Those who do not have a bachelor’s degree may take the course for CEU credit.

The cost is $250. Materials will be provided through the mail, email and online.
