Muddled thriller about an idealistic journalist (Paula Patton) who, while on vacation with her live-in boyfriend (Omar Epps), stumbles across the victim (Dawn Olivieri) of a human trafficking ring (led by Luke Goss) and is soon herself being terrorized by the gangsters.

Writer-director Deon Taylor’s ostensibly good intentions about dramatizing a very grave real-world problem are offset by weak storytelling, implausible plot developments and sensationalism.

Nasty, sometimes gory violence, drug use, cohabitation, scenes of sensuality with partial nudity, pervasive rough and crude language. The Catholic News Service classification is L — limited adult audience, films whose problematic content many adults would find troubling. The Motion Picture Association of America rating is R — restricted. Under 17 requires accompanying parent or adult guardian.
