“The Hateful Eight” (Weinstein)
By Catholic News Service
A sprawling, occasionally comic, hugely self-indulgent and long (183 minutes, including an intermission) vengeance tale best enjoyed only by Quentin Tarantino’s most ardent fans.
When the characters, trapped in a rustic Wyoming hostelry in a blizzard, finish some of the dullest dialogue ever put on celluloid, they usually spring into unexpectedly grotesque violence only because Tarantino evidently finds it amusing. Extended bloody gun and knife violence, frequent crude racist banter, pervasive rough, crude and profane language.
