2016 Catholic Directory of the Diocese of Peoria is now available
The 2016 edition of The Catholic Directory of the Diocese of Peoria has been published by The Catholic Post and is now available for purchase.
The 175-page directory contains contact information on all parishes, institutions and ministries in the diocese, including photos of churches as well as Mass schedules. It also includes:
— Photos and backgrounds on all priests and permanent deacons
— A directory of consecrated women, including locations of motherhouses
— A listing of ministries and staff located in the Spalding Pastoral Center
— A biography of Bishop Daniel R. Jenky, CSC,
— A directory of advertisers providing services to the Catholic community, and
— Much more, such as listings of parishes by vicariate, priests by seniority, and diocesan statistics.
“Paging through the directory gives one a sense of the scope of our diocese and a feeling of gratitude for all of the people it embraces,” said Tom Dermody, editor of The Catholic Post. The diocesan newspaper has produced the annual directory for more than four decades.
The cover of this year’s book calls to mind that 2016 will be a Holy Year of Mercy in the universal church. The cover photo is of a diocesan priest offering a penitent absolution in the sacrament of reconciliation. Quotes from Pope Francis’ document proclaiming the Holy Year are found throughout the directory, as are excerpts from Bishop Jenky’s 2015 Festival Letter on Consecrated Life.
The directories are available for purchase or pick-up at the Spalding Pastoral Center, 419 N.E. Madison Ave., Peoria. They may also be purchased at Lagron-Miller Company, 4517 N. Sterling, Peoria. Cost is $18.
