Catholic high schools prepare graduation ceremonies for 558
Graduation ceremonies are scheduled in the coming weeks at the seven Catholic high schools and academies in the Diocese of Peoria. A total of 558 seniors are expected to receive diplomas.
The following four schools will host graduations on Sunday, May 17:
— The High School of Saint Thomas More in Champaign will have a Mass and commencement for its 52 seniors at 2 p.m. at the school.
— St. Bede Academy in Peru will award diplomas to 59 seniors during ceremonies at St. Bede Abbey Church, also at 2 p.m. A baccalaureate Mass is planned at 7 p.m. on Saturday, May 16, at the abbey church.
— Schlarman Academy in Danville will celebrate Mass and commencement for 21 high school seniors at 3 p.m. at Holy Family Church.
— Central Catholic High School in Bloomington will award diplomas to 96 seniors during a 5 p.m. Mass and commencement ceremony at Epiphany Church in Normal.
Also on May 17, Marquette Academy in Ottawa will celebrate a baccalaureate Mass at 5:30 p.m. at St. Patrick Church in Ottawa. The academy’s 37 high school seniors will receive diplomas in ceremonies at Marquette’s Bader Gym at 3 p.m. on Sunday, May 24.
The final two schools to host commencement exercises will do so on Sunday, May 31. Graduation at Alleman High School in Rock Island is scheduled for 1 p.m. in Centennial Hall of Augustana College. The school’s 112 graduates will also assemble for a 7 p.m. baccalaureate Mass on Thursday, May 28, at St. Anne Church in East Moline.
Peoria Notre Dame High School will award diplomas to 181 seniors during Mass and graduation ceremonies at 2 p.m. on May 31 at the Peoria Civic Center.
