Dinner in Philo Sunday supports Catholic Charities programs
PHILO — The Good Samaritan programs of Catholic Charities in Champaign and Piatt Counties will benefit from the 14th annual steak dinner planned for Sunday, April 19, at the Philo Tavern, 101 Washington St. Doors will open at 4 p.m. and the dinner will be served beginning at 5 p.m.
Local radio personality Diane Ducey will host the event, which is sponsored by the Catholic Charities Community Advisory Board.
Tickets are $35 per person and may be purchased from a member of the board or by calling Dottie at (217) 344-9007.
Proceeds will help to support the Caring Companions Volunteer Program which provides companionship, assistance with housekeeping tasks, transportation and other services as well as free professional in-home counseling to seniors in rural areas.
Mental health counseling to students at St. John’s Catholic Newman Center at the University of Illinois, family and individual counseling at Presence Covenant Medical Center in Urbana, and the food pantry at St. Patrick Church in Tolono are additional programs sponsored by the Catholic Charities Advisory Board which will benefit from the proceeds.
