DANVILLE — The eighth-grade girls basketball team of Schlarman Academy here completed an undefeated season with a 48-38 win over Mt. Pulaski in the title game of the Illinois Elementary School Association Class 8-1A state tournament.

The Hilltoppers, who finished the season with a record of 23-0, were led in the championship game by Anaya Peoples and Capria Brown with 25 and 16 points, respectfully. The title game took place Dec. 18 before a packed gym at Clinton Junior High School.

As a group, this Schlarman squad has not lost since the fifth grade, having earned the seventh-grade state title last year. A team photo and further information will appear in the next print edition of The Catholic Post.
