Tell POST your favorite Christmas song, and why

It isn’t hard to say what Christmas looks like or even tastes like. It’s safe to say the season also has a definite sound, which church and community choirs have already started to refine in preparation for Masses and concerts throughout central Illinois.

What is your favorite Christmas hymn? What is the song that brings joy to your heart and expresses what this season is all about for you? The Catholic Post would like to know.

Tell us what that song is and why it is so important to you. Was it a favorite part of your family’s Christmas celebration when you were growing up? Something that has become a tradition for you and your children (and grandchildren) before you open Christmas gifts? Perhaps it was the hymn your father or mother sang as a solo at Midnight Mass. Share that song and story with us and we’ll share it with our readers as part of our Christmas section in the Dec. 21 issue of The Post.

We’ll also tally the responses and report the five most popular Christmas hymns.

Submissions may be sent by email to Jennifer Willems at jwillems@cdop.org. Please put “Christmas Songs” in the subject line. Or mail them to Christmas Songs, The Catholic Post, P.O. Box 1722, Peoria, IL 61656.

The deadline is Friday, Nov. 21.
