All Souls’ Day 2014 video honors diocese’s recently deceased
For the second consecutive year, The Catholic Post has produced a video honoring and seeking prayers for the faithful departed, especially those who have died in the past 12 months in the Diocese of Peoria.
Released on All Souls’ Day, Nov. 2, the video contains nearly 50 images of recently deceased loved ones contributed by readers of The Catholic Post. The images are accompanied by the deceased’s name, parish and date of death.
Providing a musical background is “No More Goodbyes,” an original song to share faith, hope and comfort. The song was composed and sung by Tom Dermody, editor of The Catholic Post.
“We are deeply grateful to the families and friends of the loved ones depicted in this year’s video for sharing these treasured images,” said Dermody. “We hope the video inspires prayer for all the faithful departed as well as those who are grieving the loss of those they love.”
The video concludes with a quote from “Prayers for the Dead,” the 2008 Festival Letter to the Diocese of Peoria by Bishop Daniel R. Jenky, CSC, who wrote: “Both our hope in the resurrection and our love for one another should oblige us to pray constantly for all those who have died and gone before us.”
Video production was by Daryl Wilson Photography and financial support for the project was provided by the Catholic Cemetery Association of Peoria.
