Calvary Cemetery, Rock Island offers Remembrance Candles

ROCK ISLAND — As part of the All Souls’ Day observance at Calvary Cemetery, candles will be placed at the gravesites of the deceased. The candles will be blessed at a ceremony at 9 a.m. on Friday, Oct. 31, at the mausoleum, 2901 12th St.

Friends and family members are invited to attend the ceremony, although the candles will be placed at the graves by the cemetery staff. Candles to be installed in memory of those who are buried elsewhere will be placed at the Garden of St. Francis.

This is the only time candles are allowed in the cemetery.

The Remembrance Candles are in clear glass containers and will be marked with the names of the deceased. The cost is $7.25 per candle and checks made payable to “Calvary Cemetery” may be sent to Calvary Cemetery Association, 2901 12th St., Rock Island, IL 61201.
