Join bus pilgrimage to Chicago faith sites on Sept. 15
Journey of Faith is the theme for a bus pilgrimage to Chicago planned for Monday, Sept. 15, by the Bishop’s Commission on Women in the Church and in Society. That is the Feast of Our Lady of Sorrows and pilgrims will visit the Basilica of Our Lady of Sorrows and the Sanctuary of Divine Mercy at St. Stanislaus Kostka Church.
The group will travel first to Our Lady of Sorrows for a Mass celebrated by Father David Whiteside, the commission’s spiritual director and pastor of St. Patrick in Havana and Immaculate Conception in Manito. In the afternoon, there will be an opportunity for eucharistic adoration and the sacrament of reconciliation at the Sanctuary of Divine Mercy.
The day also includes a family-style lunch at an Italian restaurant, Bella Notte, which is included in the cost for the day. On the way home, the group will make a short stop to allow people to buy snacks or get a quick meal.
The bus will leave the Spalding Pastoral Center, 419 N.E. Madison Ave., in Peoria at 6 a.m. Travelers in the LaSalle/Peru area may meet the bus at 7:15 a.m. at the Kmart in Peru.
The bus will return to Peru at about 5:30 p.m. and Peoria at about 7 p.m.
The cost, which includes everything except for the snacks on the return trip, is $75 per person. Registration is required in advance and will be limited to 55 people.
To register, send a check along with your name, address, phone number and email address to Carolyn Zinck, 21469 E. New Bridge Road, Canton, IL 61520. Please indicate whether you will be joining the pilgrimage in Peoria or Peru.
