Christ Child Society’s work earns praise from Bishop Jenky

“You’ve made something wonderful happen here,” Bishop Daniel R. Jenky, CSC, told members of the Christ Child Society of Central Illinois during a recent visit to their new workroom at the Family Resources Center in Peoria.
“I can’t thank you enough for what you do. It gives reality to what we talk about, what we say we believe. You’re putting it into practice,” he said before he led them in prayer and blessed them.
During the visit, Bishop Jenky asked if they needed anything and told them he hoped many more people, including school children, university students and the seminarians, would also stop in, learn about their ministry and help where they could.
The Christ Child Society of Central Illinois has circles in Bloomington, Galesburg, Peoria, Pontiac and Streator and provides layettes of baby items to 12 hospitals and two clinics for at-risk families. The goal is to provide everything parents would need — except for formula — when they bring their baby home from the hospital.
There is also a chapter of the Christ Child Society serving the Quad Cities.
