Mette to share music in Dwight, Campus this weekend
DWIGHT — Musician and speaker Michael James Mette will share his music and faith with area Catholics on the weekend of May 31-June 1.
Mette will provide music during Masses at St. Patrick Church, 100 W. Mazon in Dwight, at 5 p.m. on Saturday and 8 a.m. on Sunday, and at Sacred Heart Church, 205 Elm St. in Campus, at 10 a.m. on Sunday.
In addition, he will perform in concert at St. Patrick Hall in Dwight at 7 p.m. Sunday evening. Admission is free, and a free-will offering will be received to support his music ministry.
Mette describes his music as a modern reflection of his faith blending alternative rock with faith-based lyrics. He and his wife, Michelle, have five children.
After serving in the Air Force, Mette completed a degree in theology and worked for 10 years in parish ministry. But he felt increasingly called to share the Gospel through music.
His debut album, “Always What I Need” (2010) encourages trust in God’s providence. His second album “Bring Forth the Light” (2012) reflects a more mature view of the Catholic faith, exploring musical themes of human love, life, and the afterlife.
