Six will be ordained as transitional deacons Saturday

Six men preparing for priesthood in the Diocese of Peoria will be ordained to the transitional diaconate by Bishop Daniel R. Jenky, CSC, during the 4 p.m. Mass on Saturday, May 17, at St. Mary’s Cathedral in Peoria.

The candidates, listed below, are all studying at Mount St. Mary’s Seminary in Emmitsburg, Md. and are in line to be ordained to the priesthood in 2015. The listing also includes their parents’ names and the new deacon’s claimed home parish.

— Joseph Baker, the son of Donald Baker and Patricia Baker, St. John’s Catholic Newman Center in Champaign;

— Eric Bolek, the son of Joseph Bolek and Mary Morales, Holy Trinity Parish, Bloomington;

— Adam Cesarek, the son of James and Sandra Cesarek, St. Mary’s Cathedral, Peoria;

— Matt Deptula, Stanley and Elizabeth Deptula, St. Mary’s Cathedral, Peoria;

— Alex Millar, Dean and Dorothy Millar, St. Patrick, Urbana, and

— Jacob Valle, Charles and Mary Beth Valle, St. John Paul II Catholic Newman Center, Normal.
