In a break from tradition, pro-life advocates won’t be walking from the Peoria County Courthouse to Riverside Community Church in Peoria for the Sanctity of Human Life Rally on Thursday, Jan. 16. They are still expected to cover a lot of ground, however, with the help of keynote speaker Sheila Luck.
An attorney and author based in Scandinavia, Wis., Luck serves on the board of directors of Wisconsin Right to Life and Elizabeth Ministry International Inc., where she is involved in the Life & Loss Institute. In addition, she is a monthly columnist for the Wisconsin Christian News and has written five books, including three Bible studies.
Her latest work is “My Baby’s Feet: Choice, Death and the Aftermath,” which was published Nov. 1, 2012.
Participants will also hear updates on local pro-life efforts at the rally, which begins at 7 p.m. and is sponsored by Central Illinois Right to Life. Refreshments will be available.
Riverside Community Church is located at 207 N.E. Monroe St.
Prior to the event there will be an open house at the new Family Resources Center, 415 N.E. Monroe St. Guests are invited to explore the center, which was blessed and dedicated last October, from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m.
The Family Resources Center will also host open houses from Monday, Jan. 20, through Saturday, Jan. 25, as part of Education for Life Week. The hours are 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Monday through Friday (until 5 p.m. on Wednesday), and 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday.
Editor’s Note: More observances of the Jan. 22 anniversary of the U.S. Supreme Court rulings legalizing abortion will be included in the next issue of The Catholic Post.
