Run/walk in Geneseo July 13 benefits moms, kids in need
GENESEO — Mothers and children in need will benefit from Drew’s Faithful Feet, a charity run/walk that will start and end in front of St. Malachy Church, 595 E. Ogden Ave., on Saturday, July 13.
The 5K run/walk for individuals and mother-child teams begins at 8:30 a.m., while a half-mile kid’s run will get started an hour later. There will also be a 200-yard kid’s dash for children 6 years of age and younger, which is set for 9:45 a.m.
Awards will be given to the man and woman with the best time overall, and to the male and female who place first in the following age groups: under 10, 10-14, 15-29, 30-45, 46-60, and 61 and older. In addition, awards will go to the fastest mother-daughter team and mother-son team.
The registration fee through July 7 is $20 for the 5K run/walk, and $10 for either the half-mile kid’s run or 200-yard kid’s dash. After July 7 the price will go up to $25 for the 5K run/walk, $15 for the half-mile run, and $20 for the kid’s dash.
Food and entertainment will be available after the race.
Drew’s Faithful Feet celebrates the life of Drew Schaaf, who died suddenly on July 11, 2010, just two-and-a-half weeks after he was born. His actual footprints are the symbol of the event and will rest over the hearts of participants on the race t-shirts. (T-shirts can be guaranteed only for those registered by July 7.)
