CHAMPAIGN ? Works of art by students from The High School of Saint Thomas More as well as Holy Cross and St. Matthew’s Catholic grade schools in Champaign are on display from May 16-22 at the Springer Cultural Center, 301 N. Randolph St. in Champaign.

The student art was created under the direction of Deborrah Pagel, De Cornyn, and William Geerdes, who serve as art specialists at the schools. An opening reception took place at the center from 6:30 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, May 16.

“We believe the arts are an essential part of the core curriculum, and maintain the tradition of the arts as a transmitter of cultural knowledge within the faith,” the art teachers said in a joint news release announcing the exhibition. The theme of the display is “Making their Mark: The Wonder, Beauty and Gift of Catholic School Students.”
