Parish mission in Galesburg to feature noted pro-life priest
GALESBURG — Father Matthew Habiger, OSB, a longtime pro-life advocate, will present a parish mission sponsored by Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, 2401 N. Broad St., and planned for Feb. 24-27.
Sessions will be held from 7 to 9 p.m. in the parish activity center, and the sacrament of reconciliation will be available one hour prior to each talk. Father Habiger’s presentations will cover “What the Catholic Church Believes,” “What the Catholic Church Celebrates,” “What the Catholic Church Lives” and “What the Church Prays.”
Father Habiger is the assistant director of Natural Family Planning Outreach, which is based in Oklahoma City. Previously he worked with Human Life International, where he eventually served as president and chairman of the board.
Last October Father Habiger made a presentation to the priests of the Diocese of Peoria during their Priest Assembly Days.
Msgr. Ernest Pizzamiglio, pastor of Immaculate Heart of Mary, said the parish mission is being held in conjunction with the Year of Faith and is open not only to his parishioners but people in surrounding parishes as well.
