Support Catholic Post’s 2013 Delivering Unity Campaign

Bishop Daniel R. Jenky, CSC, has encouraged readership and support of The Catholic Post and invites generous donations to the diocesan newspaper’s 2013 “Delivering Unity Campaign.”

In addition to being a subscription to the print publication, a gift to the campaign is “practical evangelization” especially in this Year of Faith, said Bishop Jenky.

Contributions may be made securely online here, or by calling 1-800-340-5630.

Gifts beyond the traditional $25 subscription level enable the print publication to reach additional households with vital Catholic information and inspiration. Funds also support the free, wide, and instant sharing of breaking news, photos, and vital information via social media, The Catholic Post’s website, and an e-Edition exact replica of the newspaper.

“If we are all called to be evangelizers, we cannot give what we have not got,” said Bishop Daniel R. Jenky, CSC, of Peoria in a four-minute promotional video being produced in conjunction with the campaign. “So keeping up with what is going on in the faith, the diocese, and the universal church is simply essential.”

There are four suggested levels of giving, including a “Page Sponsorship Level” that allows readers to place a message on “their” page of a future issue. More information on those levels is found here.

Four pages of promotional information were found in the Feb. 3 issue of The Catholic Post and may be viewed on the e-Edition.

Following is the full text of Bishop Jenky’s letter:

To the Clergy, Religious and Laity of the Diocese of Peoria

My dear brothers and sisters in Christ,

There are many ways to embrace this special Year of Faith proclaimed by Pope Benedict XVI. Today I wish to strongly recommend a practical and effective way to all Catholics of the Diocese of Peoria: support and read The Catholic Post, our excellent diocesan newspaper.

“Ignite Your Faith” is the theme of The Catholic Post’s 2013 Delivering Unity Campaign, now under way throughout the diocese. The annual drive funds the sharing of vital Catholic information and inspiration through both print and digital means.

As those familiar with The Catholic Post know, every story or photograph can spark an idea, inspire hope, deepen understanding of Church teaching, and support Catholic life in our challenging times. It might be the words of Pope Benedict or a gifted columnist. It might be a profile of a faith-filled neighbor. The spark might come from an invitation to a parish or diocesan-sponsored event, or an appeal for charity. But something in every issue is sure to ignite your faith ? and also rekindle it within the tens of thousands of households The Catholic Post unites throughout central Illinois, thanks to your generosity.

A $25 subscription-level donation brings The Catholic Post to your mailbox for the next year. In this Year of Faith, however, I especially invite and encourage those able to invest more to consider doing so as a practical way to evangelize. Like a spark igniting a larger fire, your generosity also can lead to a Catholic presence in the homes of neighbors most in need. And it makes possible wide and timely sharing of photos and stories via digital means including Facebook, Twitter, and the newspaper’s website, thecatholicpost.com.

Thanking you for your support and assuring you of my prayers during this special year of grace, I am

Sincerely yours in Christ,

Most Reverend Daniel R. Jenky, CSC
Bishop of Peoria
