Wondering what to do for Valentine’s Day?
Bishop Daniel R. Jenky, CSC, is inviting all married couples in the Diocese of Peoria to celebrate the gift of Christian marriage during the Diocesan Marriage Mass and Valentine Date Night planned for Saturday, Feb. 9.
Bishop Jenky will be principal celebrant of the Marriage Mass, which begins at 4 p.m. at St. Mary’s Cathedral in Peoria. During the Mass, couples will be invited to renew their wedding vows.
Couples are also invited to enjoy a candlelight dinner celebration that begins at 5:30 p.m. at the Spalding Pastoral Center and will feature entertainment by internationally recognized classical pianist, composer and performer Eric Genuis.
Born in Canada and now residing in Kentucky, Genuis performs about 100 concerts per year, has joined with the Slovak National Symphony to produce several CDs of his original work, and recently completed scoring a movie on G.K. Chesterton. He hopes to bring listeners closer to God through the beauty of music.
The dinner will be catered by Coyote Creek Catering. Cost is $75 per couple. Attendance at the Marriage Mass is not necessary to attend the dinner celebration.
The Marriage Mass and Valentine Date Night are coordinated by the diocesan Office of Evangelization and Family Life. For reservations, send payment by Feb. 1 to that office at 419 NE Madison Ave., Peoria, IL 61603. Checks may be made payable to “Catholic Diocese of Peoria.”
