ROCK ISLAND — Traditional, semi-monastic vespers or evening prayer are being offered at 4:30 p.m. on the Sundays of Advent at St. Mary’s Church, 2208 Fourth Ave. The prayer lasts about 30 minutes, is followed by a simple meal served in Schroeder Hall, and the vespers are being sponsored by the Fathers of St. Joseph, a new confraternity of Catholic men based at St. Mary’s Parish.
